Moscalino, Ozone win Lagos Table Tennis League

Moscalino and Ozone table tennis teams have won the men and women categories of the Lagos State Table Tennis League, which ended at the weekend at the National Stadium, Surulere.

From the 28 teams that took part in the competition, Moscalino players emerged kings after dismissing High Endurology 3-0 to lift the trophy. Ozone, on the other hand, white-watched Banana Royal Peace 3-0 to lift the coveted trophy in the women’s class.

Speaking on her team’s victory, Ozone’s captain, Bisloa Asaju, commended Lagos State Table Tennis Association (LSTTA) for the championship.

“We are excited by our victory. We have been playing since last month and we thank God that we were able to complete it by winning the finals. We want to thank the Lagos State Table Tennis Association for putting the league together. It was a very successful championship,” she said.

An elated LSTTA Chairman, Tunji Lawal, said: “I never thought the league will be this successful. I am so happy we were able to achieve what we achieved, especially the fact that when we started, it was toward the start of the National Sports Festival.

“The period helped us to put our players in top shape for the festival. Players of other states where not left out as they also took part since the league was open to them and they all played,” he said.

On plans for next year’s edition, Lawal said: “I can assure that we will do more of this next year with the support of more sponsors. We will definitely put together another championship of which the date will be confirmed. But we need sponsors to make it bigger and better, especially if we have a name tied to the league.
