Morning Coffee: Six Of Eight Stanley Cup Playoffs Series Tied 2-2

The Colorado Avalanche are the first team in 22 years to complete a four-game sweep in the opening round of the Stanley Cup playoffs in back-to-back seasons.

Colorado rallied from down a goal in the third period to beat the Nashville Predators 5-3 in Game 4 last night.

The Avalanche, which went wire-to-wire as the Stanley Cup favourite, are down from +320 to +220 to win it all at FanDuel Sportsbook since the playoffs started.

Meanwhile, six of the other eight playoff series are even through four games, which is tied for the most in a single round in NHL history.

When a best-of-seven Stanley Cup Playoffs series is tied 2-2, the winner of Game 5 has gone on to advance 79.1 per cent of the time (219-58).

The stage is set for an absolutely epic stretch of playoff hockey.

It might also give us the opportunity to capitalize by predicting some series winners at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Here’s the TSN EDGE Morning Coffee for Tuesday, May 10th, 2022.

Flames, Panthers Even First Round Series’

The Avalanche were overwhelmingly considered the most likely team to advance past the first round at -620 to beat the Predators.

The next three biggest favourites to advance past the opening round are all tied at 2-2.

The Florida Panthers (-174 ML) rallied from down 2-1 late to beat the Washington Capitals 3-2 in overtime.

Carter Verhaeghe says we'll need at least six games.
