Moritz Jenz thanks Celtic fans as new signing admits 'incredible feeling' on debut

New signing Moritz Jenz has thanked Celtic fans for a warm welcome on his winning debut for the club.

The on-loan Lorient defender admitted stepping out at Parkhead was an "incredible feeling" as Ange Postecoglou 's side beat Norwich City 2-0. Jenz joined fellow new arrival Aaron Mooy in pulling on the hoops for the first time as both players were given second half run outs against the EFL Championship side on Saturday in front of a Parkhead home support.

Jenz looked assured at the heart of the Premiership champions' defence after goals from Daizen Maeda and David Turnbull had put the home side in control. And, posting on his official Instagram page, the 23-year-old German centre-back confessed his first Celtic Park outing could hardly have gone any better. He wrote: "Incredible feeling to play for the first time at home, in Paradise. Thank you for such a warm welcome #hailhail #celticfc #COYBIG"

Postecoglou revealed after Saturday's win he was keen to get both Jenz and Mooy on the pitch as quickly as possible. He said: “I just thought it was a good idea to get them a game.

"It’s a big occasion any time you make your debut for a club at home, particularly at this football club. So I wanted to give them that experience today and I thought they acquitted themselves well. Moritz has had a pre-season although in the last week he’s not done too much but he looked good and comfortable out there.

"Aaron’s not been training but the point of the experience today was to give him the matchday experience. I know what Aaron’s like and he won’t take too long to get up to speed.”

Postecoglou also revealed the injured Carl Starfelt is stepping up his recovery having missed the entirety of Celtic's pre-season with an injury
