Morgan Gibbs-White quizzed on prospect of permanent Sheffield United switch

Morgan Gibbs-White has refused to comment on possible permanent move to Sheffield United after impressing during his season-long loan stint at Bramall Lane.

The 21-year-old has been a mainstay in the United side since joining from Wolverhampton Wanderers last summer, grabbing eight goals and two assists in 21 appearances.

Having also netted a brace in the Blades’ 4-0 rout over Swansea City, Gibbs-White has been a key figure in their up-turn in form after recovering from an injury he picked up in December.

There has been some speculation that he could make the permanent move to the Blades at the end of the season given the impact he’s had and how much he’s flourished in a United shift.

Parent club Wolves are not short of talent in the midfield department, with Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho both showing their quality in more advanced roles, while Daniel Podence has also played in that No.10 position.

It might prove to be tough for Gibbs-White to cement a regular first-team place when he returns to Molineux, which may open up a potential return to the Blades in the summer transfer window.

However, the former Swansea playmaker has admitted that his main focus is on Wednesday's game against Blackburn Rovers and helping the team return to the Premier League amid reports about his future.

When asked about if he the plan was to go back to Wolves in the summer, Gibbs-White replied: "That's the plan. I'm still a Wolves player at the end of the day.

"But like I said, my main focus at the moment is on Sheffield and I really want to get these boys back to where they want to be and I believe we can get there."

Gibbs-White was questioned on whether there was a possibility of a longer-term future at United if they get promoted or not
