Morecambe confirm major managerial decision

Morecambe have re-appointed Derek Adams as their manager, the League One club have announced.

Adams originally took over as Morecambe boss in November 2019, helping the club to avoid relegation from League Two by the end of that campaign.

Last season then saw Adams guide Morecambe to their first ever promotion from the fourth-tier, following a dramatic play-off final win over Newport County.

In the wake of that success however, the 46-year-old would then leave the Shrimps to return to League Two to take charge of Bradford City.

However, that spell did not work out, with Adams sacked as manager earlier this month, after the Bantams failed to mount the expected promotion push under the former Plymouth boss.

But with Morecambe themselves looking for a new manager, following the departure of Stephen Robinson to St Mirren, the Shrimps have now moved to complete a reunion.

Football League World exclusively revealed that the League One club were considering a move to reppoint Adams, and it has now been confirmed that the 46-year-old has returned to the club’s managerial hotseat.

Morecambe have struggled in League One this season, and sit 21st in the current standings, two points from safety.

Adams’ first game back in charge of the club comes on Saturday afternoon, when the Shrimps host Ipswich Town at The Mazuma Stadium.

This does look to be a very good appointment for Morecambe.

Adams worked wonders for the club during his first spell in charge, so he certainly knows how to get the best out of these players, to achieve more than what is expected of them.
