After winning a tense Munster club football final against Daingean Uí Chúis, Castlehaven captain Mark Collins is relishing the prospect of what lies ahead in the All-Ireland series.

The Cork champions overcame their Kerry rivals 4-3 on penalties after Sunday's decider at the TUS Gaelic Grounds finished 0-13 each after extra-time.

For Collins, who chipped in with two points, a fourth provincial win for the club was very much the target after county success was achieved.

He told RTÉ Sport: "It's an absolutely unbelievable day. When we were growing up we looked at the likes of Larry [Tompkins] and Niall [Cahalane] winning Munster championships for Castlehaven. There was no one in our group with a Munster medal and when we won the Cork championship it was something we wanted to achieve. We had that little bit of luck on our side today and it helped us get over the line.

"We have been knocking on the door in Cork for the last few years; we got close without getting over the line. We knew we won a good Cork championship and beat a lot of very good teams on the way to it. When we won the county we really wanted to push on and give the best account of ourselves in the Munster championship."

Next up for Castlhaven is a date with Connacht champions St Brigid's in the All-Ireland semi-final in four weeks' time.

Collins, while reflecting on the side's journey so far, is now dreaming of an even bigger day. Castlehaven going all the way to claim a first All-Ireland title.

For the club's three previous Munster SFC titles - 1989, 1994, 1997 - they were felled at the semi-final stage.

"We had extra-time against Cratloe in the quarter-final and we played Rathgormack down in Dungarvan - never an easy place to get out of - in the semi.
