Moment man has phone 'whacked out of his hand' in street row over bollards

Video footage captured the shocking moment a man had his phone 'whacked out of his hand' in the street an alleged dispute over bollards. The incident happened when a couple approached two men, thought to be delivery drivers, and asked them to keep the bollard up on York Road in Kings Heath.

This was reportedly due to the street being full of children playing in the Sunday evening sunshine. But the conversation soon became heated, according to a witness, who then began filming the encounter. All of a sudden, one man is then seen slapping the phone out of the other man's hand.

The woman then courageously confronted the man, questioning 'what are you gonna do, go on?'. She continued to follow the two men as they backed away, mocking her efforts. It is understood that West Midlands Police were not notified of the incident.

One witness told Birmingham Live: "We were sat outside the Hare and Hounds with other parents. Our kids were playing in the pedestrian zone. The delivery drivers had kept going in and out and members of the public including myself had put the bollard back multiple times as cars kept driving into the area."

"I don't know who the couple are but they challenged the delivery driver when he went to put the bollard down, I noticed the discussion and started filming as the delivery driver was getting angry. He then smashed the poor man's phone out of his hand at which point the lady he is with stands up to them.

"It was a sunny Sunday evening during the summer holidays and all people were asking was for them not to drive cars where kids were playing."
