Moment England rugby star Billy Vunipola laughs as he gets tasered by police in Majorca bar

England rugby ace Billy Vunipola was seen laughing off police attempts to subdue him with a taser at a bar in Majorca.

The robust player seemed unfazed by the initial taser attempt, which failed to discharge, and only fell to the ground after a second shot. The 31-year-old was subsequently arrested and taken to hospital under police supervision following the fracas at Epic bar in Palma early Sunday. Despite being tackled by the authorities, Vunipola faced a judge and was released on conditional bail while investigations continue. His current location remains unknown.

Bar owner Toni Rocha commended the police and his security team for handling what he described as a "very difficult" and "very tense" situation. Contradicting reports that 75-time England cap Vunipola had menaced patrons and staff with bottles and chairs, Rocha confirmed the rugby star did cause a disturbance and challenged officers upon their arrival, stating: "Far from calming down when he saw the police he became worse."

Rocha recounted how Vunipola insulted the officers, uttering "I heard him insult police and say 'F***ing cops' at one point and there was another moment where he had his shirt off and hit an officer in the face with the top in his hand as the officer tried to reason with him."

At one point, Vunipola removed his shirt and struck an officer in the face with it as the officer attempted to calm him. Detailing the evening's events, Mr Rocha offered: "He arrived just before 3am on Sunday morning with a friend who I believe is also a rugby player. I know they'd been drinking in the Santa Catalina neighbourhood before they came here because a waiter who we know who works in a bar there and was in on Saturday night told us."
