Liverpool have been warned that ceding to Mohamed Salah’s wage demands could set a dangerous precedent moving forward.

Salah’s current contract is set to expire at the end of next season, with negotiations ongoing between the players’ representatives and the club.

However, the latest reports have suggested that those talks are at an impasse with the Egyptian looking to become the Reds’ highest ever paid player.

Unsurprisingly, speculation over Liverpool ’s top scorer is rife and Jurgen Klopp was forced to address the rumours going into this weekend’s clash at Brighton.

“I understand these questions but the club is in talks with all the agents and all the people. Until then it makes no sense,” Klopp told reporters.

“The Mo question, nothing new happened, everything is fine. Mo is giving absolutely everything to the club. The club is in talks with all the agents and that is how it should be.

“Mo definitely expects this club to be ambitious, we were in the last few years and we are. From my point of view, it is exactly like it should be at this time.”

It is understood the 29-year-old hopes to stay at Anfield, but relations were put at risk when his agent, Ramy Abbas Issa posted a tweet which included seven laughing emojis following Klopp's assessment of the situation.
