Mohamed Salah: Parrot knows all the words to Liverpool star's 'Egyptian King' song

Mohamed Salah has become a Liverpool icon since joining from Roma in 2017.

The Egyptian superstar played a huge role in Liverpool finally winning their sixth Champions League trophy after 14 years, and their first league title in 30 years.

It’s hard to imagine that Klopp’s men would have been anywhere near as successful without the influence of the winger.

Salah has won four trophies since arriving in Merseyside, the FIFA Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup and the aforementioned Champions League and Premier League titles.

The winger’s performances for Liverpool have also seen the 29-year-old collect a huge haul of individual honours, including a Premier League Golden Boot, Premier League Player of the Season and FIFA’s Puskas award.

Salah has been included in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year twice and was also named as the Liverpool Fan’s Player of the Season two times.

The Egyptian has proven many times he is just as likeable off the pitch as he is on it, from stopping to help a child who was injured after chasing his car to paying for everybody’s fuel at a petrol station, so it’s no surprise that Salah is loved by the Anfield faithful.

The winger has, of course, earned his own nickname and song from his loving Liverpudlians, The Egyptian King.

A video that first surfaced in 2019 showed that the Liverpool star’s popularity transcends even species. The brilliant clip shows an African grey parrot from Belfast named Kelo, who has memorised the lyrics to Salah’s ‘The Egyptian King’ chant.

In the video, you can hear the parrot belting out his rendition of the fan’s song: “Mo Salah, Mo Salah, running down the wing. Salah-la-la-la-la, the Egyptian king.”
