Mohamed Salah handed Barcelona transfer promise to give Liverpool new headache

Barcelona have told Mohamed Salah he can join their incoming galaxy of stars at the Nou Camp next summer.

Armed with a £235million naming rights deal with audio streaming platform Spotify, the Spanish giants have started revamping their squad ready to challenge once again for the main honours at home and abroad.

And Salah, who is still to agree a new contract with Liverpool, has been promised a move to the Catalan giants next summer on a free transfer.

It’s believed the Barcelona factor is a major reason behind the forward stalling on agreeing a new deal, after informing close friends a few months ago that he was ready to extend his Merseyside stay.

Head coach Xavi is already confident of pulling off the signing of Bayern Munich’s prolific goalscoring striker Robert Lewandowski and has spoken to Wolves playmaker Ruben Neves.

It leaves Liverpool with a difficult decision before the players return for pre-season training in readiness for prestigious friendlies in Asia.

While Salah insists he is committed for a new Liverpool campaign even if he doesn’t put pen to paper on a new contract, the club are in two minds about allowing him to run it down.

That could force Barcelona or other interested clubs to show their hand earlier, which is far from an ideal scenario for manager Jurgen Klopp.

Salah confirmed ahead of the Champions League final that he would stay at Liverpool next season, declaring: "I don't want to talk about the contract now, I'm staying next season for sure, that's clear."
