Mancunians wowed by stunning sunset which bathes region in warm glow

People across Greater Manchester were mesmerised by a beautiful warm sunset which lit up the skies during the Jubilee weekend. Striking shades of purple and orange provided a stunning backdrop for the region on Saturday evening.

Scores of people took to social media to comment on the gorgeous night sky. Antony Scoltock posted: "What a cracking sunset tonight".

Local forecaster Oldham Weather tweeted that the sunset was so good he 'had to stop off at the services on the M61 to get a photo'.

And Sonia Turkington added: "It's amazing tonight" along with striking pictures of the clouds lit up in glowing shades of red and pink. Greater Manchester has been treated to gorgeous weather as people celebrated the Monarch over the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend.

Temperatures have hovered around the 20c mark as residents have congregated for sun-soaked street parties and events across the region to mark the Queen's 70 year reign.
