Mohamed Salah clarifies his comments after Manchester United's defeat to Liverpool FC

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has clarified comments he made during a post-match interview following his team’s 4-0 thrashing of Manchester United.

The attacker netted twice on the night to end a six-game goal drought and take his Premier League tally for the season up to 22. He was once again one of the standout performers for the Reds and was chosen for media duties after the final whistle.

During an interview with Sky Sports, several viewers perceived Salah to fire some cutting remarks at the United midfield on a torrid evening for the Old Trafford outfit. When asked about Liverpool’s dominance in the game, he said: “They make our lives easier in the midfield and in the back.

Mohamed Salah makes admission over Liverpool's 4-0 win over Manchester United

“They always try to give us the ball in a one-against one-situation. So they make our lives much easier so I think when we defend well, we had a clean sheet here (at Anfield) and a clean sheet there (in October’s 5-0 win at Old Trafford), they make our lives easier to score.”

Salah later realised that his words may have been received as disrespectful by fellow professionals, so took to Twitter to clarify what he meant when answering the question.

He wrote: “I meant our midfield, and our defence, make it easy for us. I was not talking about the Manchester United players whom I respect.”

Salah currently leads the race for the Premier League golden boot having also scored another eight goals in the Champions League this term.
