Mog's Christmas on Channel 4: When and time it's on, cast and voices and who sings theme tune

Much-loved children's book Mog's Christmas is getting its own special animated adaptation for 2023. Judith Kerr’s illustrated classic story will bring Mog the cat, and his loving family, to television screens over the festive period.

Mog's Christmas, which will air on Channel 4, tells the story of the Thomas house over Christmas, which is getting more and more busy as relatives stop by.

Feeling ignored, and then suffering a fright after seeing a large Christmas tree, Mog the car scrambles onto the roof for safety. Refusing to come down, Mog has a magical night in the snow with a cat-themed Christmas dream.

The hand-drawn animated special features a host of famous names who are giving their voices to bring the classic children's story to life.

Mog's Christmas has been directed by Robin Shaw, who also directed the animated film of The Tiger Who Came To Tea book.

Aware of the weight of responsibility when tackling the project, he said: "There are loads of books. It was a big thing from my childhood and my children’s childhood, so just like The Tiger Who Came To Tea, there was an enormous responsibility with that.

"I think the key with it was to listen to Judith’s voice in the text and stick to that and just make sure it’s all about Mog"

The first of Kerr’s Mog books, Mog The Forgetful Cat, was published in 1970, and as a result, the moggy has been a part of many generations of children’s live. Tens of millions of copies of Mog stories have been sold across the world and they have been translated into over 20 languages.
