‘Moaning’ Fernandes is not worthy of new Man Utd deal, says pundit

Bruno Fernandes should not have been offered a new Manchester United contract, according to former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino.

Reports have claimed that Fernandes is close to securing a new, five-year deal which will see his wages rise from £100,000-a-week to £220,000-a-week, making him one of the highest earners at the club.

This is despite the Portuguese international’s disappointing output this season, with Fernandes scoring just nine goals in all competitions after netting 28 last campaign.

Cascarino is not convinced he’s deserving of a new deal, at least not until he rediscovers the electric form of his first 18 months in Manchester.

“It is a very strange set of circumstances where you are offering someone with three years left on their contract a new five-year deal,” Cascarino told talkSPORT.
