MMA legend Gina Carano is genuinely considering coming back to fight Ronda Rousey in the cage

Gina Carano may not have stepped inside the cage in more than a decade, but she has teased a potential comeback match against UFC legend Ronda Rousey.

Carano, who was dubbed ‘the face of women’s MMA’ during her career, last fought in 2009 against Cris Cyborg in their historic Strikeforce bout.

The pair became the first women to headline a major MMA event, but after Cyborg handed Carano her first professional defeat, the Texas-born fighter stepped away from the sport.

Rousey has also moved away from mixed martial arts and has since re-signed with WWE, where she is currently the SmackDown Women’s Champion.

However, The Baddest Woman on the Planet recently revealed the only opponent who could lure her back to MMA would be Carano.

Rousey paid tribute to the woman who was ‘the reason why she got into fighting’ and admitted she would make her return to the cage if a fight against her role model was on the table.

“There’s only one person I would come back for,” Rousey said (h/t POST Wrestling). “I’ve said it a million times, it’s not like it’s something new but for Gina, Gina Carano.

“She’s the reason why I got into fighting, she’s the reason why I knew it was a possibility. I will always be forever grateful.”

In a recent interview, Carano responded to the proposal and it turns out she isn’t opposed to a clash between the two MMA legends, despite her years away from the cage.

“You know what? Just never put it past me,” she told FOX News. “It could happen. It would be six months from now because I have a lot of stuff I need to do.”

Despite never officially retiring, Carano has been absent from the world of mixed martial arts for almost 13 years.

She has since made the switch from competitive fighting to on-screen acting.
