Marc Raimondi: There's no 'Bones' about it.

Jon Jones, the UFC heavyweight champion, said in an interview with Australia's Submission Radio published on Saturday that he was called just days ago by UFC chief business officer Hunter Campbell, to offer Jones the opportunity to headline UFC 300 on April 13 in Las Vegas. Jones, who is still recovering from undergoing surgery late last year to repair a torn pec, said he unfortunately would not be healthy in time.

«As honored as I am for the opportunity, I just don't think I'll be ready,» Jones said.

This is just the latest in the ongoing saga of UFC 300 and what the main event will be. And there is no answer to that question just yet. The UFC has cycled through many ideas — including Conor McGregor — when it comes to the headliner of perhaps its biggest event of all time, but the options are limited.

UFC CEO Dana White was asked about the card and what's left to announce at a news conference after PowerSlap in Las Vegas on Friday night. He quipped: «Who knows who's gonna be the UFC 300 headliner? We've been working on it.»

White added that the UFC still has the «co-main event and another one» left to announce with regards to UFC 300 fights. It's unclear if he meant «main event» or if Justin Gaethje vs. Max Holloway for the BMF title will be slotted as the headliner with a co-main
