MLB, White House discuss playing game at national park - ESPN

Major League Baseball has approached the Trump administration about hosting a game at a national park, officials from the White House and the league confirmed to The Washington Post on Saturday.

The White House said in a statement that MLB asked the administration about hosting a game at a national park, adding that the National Park Service has not granted a permit to do so.

«This is not a Presidential directive, nor is it being directed by the White House. It's also not being driven by the Department of Interior,» the statement said. «Therefore, this is not a White House or Administration priority.»

However, two sources told the Post that the Trump administration has scouted locations in Grand Teton National Park, located in northwest Wyoming, to build a baseball park. Sources told the Post that National Park Service deputy director Frank Lands visited Grand Teton National Park this week and looked at three potential locations to hold a baseball game within the park's boundaries. Lands declined comment to the Post.

The discussions come as MLB has expanded its use of single-game sites over the past decade. MLB returned for the Field of Dreams game and Little League Classic this year, played inside the Bristol Motor Speedway in 2025 and held a game at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama, in 2024.

An MLB official, speaking anonymously, told the Post that playing at a national park was one of several ideas under consideration by the league. The 2027 schedule has been released, with games at the Field of Dreams and Little League Classic both set for August, so the possibility of a new game site may be unlikely until at least 2028.
