MJ Williams Bolton Wanderers decision confirmed as Ian Evatt makes Lincoln City prediction

MJ Williams is expected to return for Bolton Wanderers against Lincoln City this evening as Ian Evatt expects an expansive and pressing game.

Wanderers take on the Imps this evening and could do the double over Michael Appleton's side with three points this evening.

Holding midfielder Williams was an unused substitute over the weekend against AFC Wimbledon as Evatt opted for a more attacking engine room without the defensive responsibility of the former Liverpool trainee.

Evatt said the decision to rest Williams over the weekend was taken with this evening's game in mind and was something that the midfielder himself understood and agreed with.

But leaving key players out is something that the Wanderers squad must get used to now as Evatt predicts a pressing game from the Imps in a change in style from the 1-0 win at Sincil Bank earlier in the season.

Evatt said: "We are always working a game ahead, myself and Judah (Davies), and that was partly the reason that MJ was rested on Saturday because we will need his defensive responsibility against Lincoln.

"He completely understood it and agreed with it. It’s not just MJ, it’s happened to them all. We’ve left out Dion (Charles), we’ve left out Dapo (Afolayan), we’ve left out Gethin (Jones).

"The one we haven’t left out is probably Rico (Santos) because no-one else can give us what he gives us. But other than that, we’ve had to share it around because it’s so difficult to keep going every time with the same 11.

“They are an expansive team but they have changed the way they press a little bit. Earlier on in the season they were more submissive, went into a mid-block
