Miyazaki edges all-British battle on busy day at Surbiton
Lily Miyazaki triumphed in the battle of the Brits to stun Jodie Burrage and progress to the last 16 on a thrilling day of action at the LTA's Lexus Surbiton Trophy. The duo are both coached by Craig Veal, but it was the lower-ranked Miyazaki — who is supported by the LTA's Pro Access Programme — who triumphed in the south-west London sunshine. Seventh seed Oceane Dodin defeated Maia Lumsden 7-5 3-6 6-3 after a closely-fought contest. The 25-year-old from Glasgow looked like she had grabbed a foothold in the match after pushing Dodin to the limit in the first set before winning the second. But her French rival regrouped and took the third set to advance.
