Millwall stewards go viral for hilarious attempts to stop pitch invasion

Footage of stewards during a pitch invasion after Millwall’s Championship fixture against Peterborough United has gone viral on social media.

Millwall recorded a 3-0 victory over relegated Peterborough thanks to goals from Benik Afobe and George Saville, plus an own goal from Josh Knight.

The result leaves keep the Lions’ slim Championship play-off hopes alive. Gary Rowett’s side are eighth in the table, three points behind sixth-placed Sheffield United and one point behind Middlesbrough with one fixture remaining.

Millwall end their campaign away at Bournemouth next weekend. If they win that and other results go their way, they might have the chance to compete for a place in the Premier League via the play-offs.

Fans invaded the pitch after the full-time whistle and a group of stewards have gone viral following their ‘attempts’ – if you can call it that – to deter fans from getting past them onto the pitch.
