Mikey Johnston lands 4 word Joe Hart pep talk after closing Celtic chapter for new beginning at West Brom

Joe Hart may have left Celtic in the summer - but he's still making his presence felt with his old colleagues.

The former No1 was in attendance at Parkhead on Sunday and was captured by the TV cameras giving his pals pep talks ahead of their derby day win over Rangers. Brendan Rodgers' men ran out 3-0 winners to maintain their 100 per cent league start. It's been a summer of changes with Mikey Johnston in the bracket of those to leave the club for a new challenge. He found himself down the pecking order and with game-time limited the Hoops cashed in with West Brom shelling out after a hugely successful loan stint.

Johnston - a full international for the Republic of Ireland - took to social media last night to send an emotional farewell which included a montage of clips showing his rise from a youngster to the first-team with a selection of his best bits including goals both in Europe and on the domestic scene. Former Celtic team-mate Hart, now working in the media circle, took to the comments and simply wrote: 'Go smash it Mikey.'

He wrote on Instagram: "It’s hard to say goodbye. I feel very fortunate to have been able to play for Celtic. I’ve lived my dream, playing just one minute would have been enough.

"Thank you to everyone at the club for helping me grow as a player and as a person throughout the years. Thank you to the fans who supported me through the good times and the bad. Looking forward to a new chapter now and going back to being a Celtic fan again. Hail hail, MJ."

The likes of Stephen Welsh, Adam Montgomery and Bosun Lawal also sent messages to Johnston as well as the fans. His post was liked nearly 18,000 times alongside the hundreds of well wishes in the comments.
