Mikel Arteta sends warning to 'huge talent' Rasmus Hojlund ahead of potential Manchester United debut

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta believes Rasmus Hojlund is a 'huge talent' but has warned the Manchester United striker must now prove that in the Premier League.

The Gunners welcome United to the Emirates on Sunday and could be the first side to face Hojlund in a red shirt with the Dane been passed fit to make his debut. The striker has not been pictured in training this week but manager Erik ten Hag confirmed on Friday he could start.

Hojlund arrived in a £72million deal from Atalanta in the summer but is yet to feature after a stress fracture in his back was flagged during medical tests. The 20-year-old is hoped to bring much-needed goals to a United squad lacking in that area. And Arteta can see the quality in the United frontman.

“He’s a huge talent, and he’ll have to prove that in this league," Arteta said of Hojlund on Friday. "We know the history and these are extremely competitive games.

It will be a big battle on Sunday and obviously we want to come away with three points. It is important before the international break to finish well and go into that on a high."

United look set to welcome one more player through the door before tonight's 11pm deadline, having already seen Altay Bayindir and Sergio Reguilon arrive from Fenerbahce and Tottenham respectively. As of Friday lunchtime, they had agreed a deal that will see Sofyan Amrabat come in on-loan for the season with an option to buy - Fiorentina will receive a £10m fee for the loan.

Ten Hag was forced to re-enter the market late for final reinforcements, particularly at left-back due to Luke Shaw's injury. Arteta has suffered no such misfortune, and is looking forward to a more laid back deadline
