Mikel Arteta handed £12m chance to reignite Arsenal interest for dream Bayern Munich transfer

Arsenal could turn their attention to an old midfield transfer target in order to solve Mikel Arteta’s issues in the middle of the park. Marcel Sabitzer is reportedly no longer needed at Bayern Munich, and he would still be an excellent signing for the Gunners.

According to German news outlet Sport1, Bayern Munich would at least consider selling Sabitzer this summer if they receive an offer of around £12.4m. This is an absolute steal when you take into consideration the pedigree of the player.

The Gunners must sign a midfielder in the summer transfer window due to shortages and a lack of quality in the position. Sabitzer was linked to the club in the past, and Edu should look once again to complete a deal if the midfielder is available.

According to reports in Germany, the Gunners were keen on the Austria international in the summer transfer window as he entered the final year of his RB Leipzig contract. However, the midfielder decided to join Bayern Munich instead.

He left RB Leipzig having played 229 games for the club and scoring 52 goals and providing 42 assists. His exploits during his time with the Bundesliga side made him a desirable signing.

But he hasn’t had the same fortunes since his move to Bayern in the summer, as he has largely been played out of position, and primarily used as a substitute, hence the reason he has only scored one league goal this season.

A summer move to Arsenal for the midfielder certainly shouldn’t be out of the question. Last year, speaking in an interview with SportBILD, the 27-year-old hinted that he would be open to sealing a switch to England one day.
