Mike McDaniel says Dolphins have offer out to Odell Beckham Jr. - ESPN

The Miami Dolphins made wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. a contract offer last week, coach Mike McDaniel said Monday from the NFL's league meetings in Orlando, Florida.

Beckham visited the Dolphins last week but left without signing a contract. McDaniel, however, said he believes the contract talks will be «ongoing.»

«Things went great with him,» McDaniel told reporters of the visit, according to the Miami Herald. «We did make him an offer and business takes time, especially with players such as Odell, who's had a phenomenal career, still has really good football in front of him and has options. So, I think those conversations will be ongoing. We'll see where they go.»

McDaniel added that he is «definitely ready to coach him if we can come to an agreement and I think both sides are trying to work towards that. We'll see what happens.»

The Dolphins are looking to sign a No. 3 wide receiver behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Cedrick Wilson Jr., who held that role last season, signed with the New Orleans Saints as an unrestricted free agent.

Beckham, 31, remains one of the most popular names in the NFL despite his production slipping over the years. He has failed to eclipse 50 catches or 600 yards receiving in each of his past three seasons played, which were heavily impacted by injuries.

In 2020, Beckham tore the ACL in his left knee while with the Cleveland Browns, forcing him to miss the final nine games of the season. After getting released by the Browns midway through the 2021 season, he joined the Los Angeles Rams and helped them to the Super Bowl, where he injured his left knee again.
