Midfielder transfer link emerges as Nottingham Forest make new appointment

Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move for Wolfsburg teenager Aster Vranckx as they look to strengthen in the centre of the pitch.

But the Reds could face competition for the 19-year-old central midfielder. Premier League rivals Everton are also said to be keen on securing his services.

According to French journalist Loic Tanzi, who works for RMC Sport, Vranckx has caught the eye of the two clubs. It looks as though there will be a fight for his signature, as both “hope to be able to sign” the Belgian.

Nottingham Forest are reportedly closing in on the signing of Burnley goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey.

Hennessey was restricted to just two appearances at Turf Moor last season, with Nick Pope being the first-choice between the sticks in their relegation campaign. The 35-year-old has been deemed as surplus to requirements ahead of this season as new boss Vincent Kompany is keen to sign a new number one following Pope's transfer to Newcastle United.

Although Forest have added Dean Henderson to their ranks as the first choice shot-stopper following the exit of Ethan Hovarth on loan and Brice Samba's departure to Lens, a deal for the Wales international "is close to being completed", according to talkSPORT's Alex Crook. Boss Steve Cooper is apparently keen to have Hennessey as Henderson's back-up.

After signing for Burnley last summer, the 35-year-old has only gone on to make three appearances, keeping one clean sheet. He has previously had spells at Crystal Palace and Wolves.
