Michael Owen shares verdict after Manchester United 'frustrated' by Watford

Michael Owen has delivered his verdict after Manchester United saw their top-four hopes dented by Watford at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

Having overcome Brighton and bitter rivals Leeds in their last two games, United had strengthened their ongoing charge for Champions League qualification.

However, things did not go according to plan for Ralf Rangnick across the board on this matchday.

Tottenham returned to winning ways by sweeping aside Leeds in the early kick-off - while Arsenal sit two points behind United with three games in hand. They did not even have to kick a ball this weekend.

As for Watford, an unlikely point at Old Trafford keeps them within touching distance of safety with a number of teams clutched together at the foot of the standings.

Watford manager Roy Hodgson picked up two wins and a draw on his last two visits to Old Trafford while he was still with Crystal Palace and set the relegation-threatened Hornets up in typically resolute fashion.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, former United striker Owen said: "He has got the Indian sign on them.

"Watford did well and you can't expect them to go there and open it up. Inevitably they were going to concede chances. It's a very interesting time at the bottom of the league at the moment.

Where will United finish this season? Have your say in the comments section below.

"Around the bottom, Watford have kept themselves in it with an unexpected point.

"There are a couple of teams that have lost. There are a couple of teams that have picked up points. It's bubbling into something pretty special down there."
