Michael Owen sends Manchester United title warning to Arsenal and Man City

Former Manchester United striker Michael Owen insists his old club cannot be discounted from the Premier League title race just yet.

Currently third in the table ahead of Sunday afternoon's meeting with Leicester City at Old Trafford, United will move to within three points of neighbours Manchester City with another maximum haul of points. City dropped points in their pursuit for the title on Saturday afternoon, drawing 1-1 with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

City's woes were compounded further by the fact that Arsenal had secured a dramatic 4-2 win over Aston Villa earlier in the day, meaning the Gunners reclaimed residency at the summit. Pep Guardiola's side had moved to the top after beating the Londoners 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium in midweek.

Although Arsenal, at the time of writing, are eight points ahead of United in the table, Owen believes it would be foolish to completely rule Erik ten Hag's side out of the race for top spot. The Reds have lost just three of their last 21 league matches and have gone from strength-to-strength as the campaign has progressed.

Owen, speaking to Premier League Productions, said: "Nobody is mentioning Manchester United. Manchester City are involved.

"But if Manchester United win their game in hand, they are only three points behind City. So you cannot rule anything out at the moment, but you have to say that Arsenal are in the driver's seat."

Following Thursday night's 2-2 draw with Barcelona in the Europa League, Ten Hag was quizzed on United's title prospects, to which he admitted that if the club finds itself in a similar situation to which they are now in April then they will still have a
