Michael Olise has clever 'contract clause' that may cost Manchester United millions

Manchester United may have to dig deeper into their pockets if they want to secure the services of Crystal Palace's Michael Olise, due to a clever clause in his contract.

The Frenchman has been in fine form since returning from injury and has caught the attention of several Premier League rivals. Olise was on the brink of signing for Chelsea last summer but instead chose to extend his stay at Selhurst Park.

His recent performances have not gone unnoticed by United, who are keen to strengthen their attacking options next season. With big-money signings Antony and Jadon Sancho failing to make an impact at Old Trafford and Marcus Rashford struggling to replicate his form from last season, INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are still looking to bolster their squad.

However, according to the BBC, Palace have placed a hefty £60m price tag on Olise, with teammate Eberechi Eze also valued at the same amount. Both players signed long-term contracts this season, which include release clauses that would allow them to leave if a suitor meets the asking price.

The clauses are reportedly complex and any deal would involve payments being made to Olise's former club Reading, Palace themselves, and the player. Chelsea believed they had triggered the release clause for the winger last season, but their efforts to snatch the France Under-21 star were thwarted as the Eagles declared he would stay put, with chairman Steve Parish making the announcement on his social media.
