Michael Duffy fractures tibia on Derry return
Derry City have been hit with a serious blow after it was confirmed winger Michael Duffy fractured his tibia in Monday's victory over Drogheda United.
The comfortable 2-0 victory at the Brandywell was overshadowed by the injury picked up by Duffy less than 10 minutes after coming off the bench for his second debut with his hometown club.
After receiving a rousing reception from the home crowd when introduced, his night was cut short on 74 minutes following a heavy challenge by Keith Cowan.
The Candystripes confirmed that Duffy fractured his tibia and is "being assessed for a treatment plan to best manage his recovery".
It comes just weeks after influential midfielder Ciaron Harkin was ruled out for the season with a cruciate knee ligament injury.
Derry sit in third position in the table, with three wins and two draws from their opening five league encounters.
