Michael Block says Michael Jordan text was 'pretty darn cool' as he reflects on new-found fame after US PGA Championship

Michael Block has revealed that NBA legend Michael Jordan is one of the many golf fans who were mesmerised by his performance at the recent US PGA Championship. Block, a club pro based out of a public course in California, exploded onto the world stage in New York state last week where he excelled against the world’s best — and over a testing Oak Hill layout. Ad Brooks Koepka claimed victory and with it his fifth major title but Block stole many of the headlines with the 46-year-old also carding a stunning hole-in-one during Sunday’s final round on his way to a T15th finish.

«I'm a big Jordan guy my whole life. I was a little kid in Iowa saving 100 bucks for a pair of Jordans back in the day.” Asked what he replied, Block referenced Jordan’s reported insatiable daily appetite for the sport. »I told him that I just want to be in one of his 36-hole games!” he joked.

Block was one of only 20 regular pros to qualify for the US PGA Championship but the only one to make the cut. He also revealed that someone had offered to buy the 7-iron with which he aced the 15th hole on Sunday. “I've had a couple different offers actually,” Block said.
