Michael Beale names Rangers transfer drive advantage as he demands players put a 'marker down' in 3 key areas

Delighted Michael Beale reckons that Rangers can now boast strength in depth after a hectic summer transfer window so far.

Seven new recruits have already been brought into Ibrox with Leon Balogun the latest as the free agent made his return to the Scottish Premiership side - with Feyenoord forward Danilo and Los Angeles FC midfielder Jose Cifuentes next up on Beale's wish list. Recruits like Dujon Sterling will be pushing captain James Tavernier for a spot in the starting line-up, while Ridvan Yilmaz will look to take Borna Barisic's spot in the team after an injury-hampered debut campaign in light blue.

Sam Lammers, Abdallah Sima and Cyriel Dessers will all battle it out for a spot in Rangers attack next season - with Beale naming that as a key recruitment area that has improved competition from last season. The likes of Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent have left the club - while the futures of Fashion Sakala and Antonio Colak remain up in the air.

After the pre-season clash with Hallescher, the Rangers boss told RTV: "We are just looking for people's legs to be stronger with the work that we have done. We are looking for little relationships within the team.

'We are looking for people to lay a marker down for the season. If you look we have two left-backs that are competing, two right-backs that are competing, the competition in the final third is really strong, so it's nice.

'When we get home from here Nico Raskin will join the group, Tom Lawrence as well, and Connor Goldson is not a million miles away. The competition for places is really strong.

"I have to say the young boys have done really well this week. They have shown they want to be around the group, which is really important."
