Mia Griffin grabs stage-three win to bolster Rás na mBan lead

Mia Griffin bolstered her overall lead of the Rás na mBan as she sprinted to a second victory of the week in the third stage into Gorey, Co Wexford.

The Kilkenny native, who was part of Team Ireland's track cycling squad at the Paris 2024 Olympics, won the opening stage for the second year in a row on Wednesday.

Two days on and the 25-year-old DAS-Hutchinson-Brother UK rider continued her excellent form, taking victory ahead of American Heidi Franz (Monarch Racing) in second, with Dutch rider Noor Dekker (JEGG DJR Academy) coming home in third.

The stage, which saw riders assemble at the Hoban Hotel in Kilkenny City for the start of the 104-kilometre route to Gorey, saw Griffin tighten her grip on the leader's magenta jersey.

She secured the maximum time bonuses at both the finish and intermediate sprints, extending her lead at the top of the general classification to 12 seconds over DAS-Hutchinson-Brother UK team-mate and stage-two winner Caoimhe O'Brien.
