Mets use five pitchers in combined no-hitter of Phillies
The first no-hitter of 2022 belongs to the New York Mets.
Five pitchers combined to make history as the Mets combine to no-hit the Philadelphia Phillies in a 3-0 victory Friday night at Citi Field.
Tylor Megill started the game, striking out five over five clean innings. He then gave way to righty Drew Smith, followed by left-hander Joely Rodriguez, right-hander Seth Lugo and closer Edwin Diaz. Diaz struck out Bryce Harper and Nick Castellanos to kick off the ninth inning before getting J.T. Realmuto on strikes to end the game.
It's the franchise's first no-hitter since Johan Santana in 2012. The most recent no-hitter at Citi Field was Max Scherzer with the Washington Nationals in October of 2015.
More to come.
