Met Office weather map shows when and where snow will hit tomorrow

Some parts of Greater Manchester could see snow tomorrow evening (February 22). A mixture of rain, hail and snow showers are set to hit the region tomorrow from around 6.30pm, according to Met Office forecasts.

Snow is expected to fall over higher ground in areas of Rochdale and Oldham, as well part of the Peak District across the evening. Although there won’t be any of the white stuff in the city centre, there will be heavy hail showers.

Met Office precipitation maps show that from around 7.15pm eastern parts of Greater Manchester will see rain and hail showers. These will continue through the evening but at around 9pm areas in Oldham and Rochdale could see these developing into snow in higher areas, with more than 4mm falling in some parts and temperatures forecast to drop to 2C by the evening.

Burnley is expected to see some snow at around 6.45pm, although the weather map shows that it will have passed by 7.15pm. Bolton and Wigan will also experience hail showers from around 7.45pm for half an hour.

This will then move eastwards across the Pennines later in the evening with the rain, hail and snow ceasing from approximately 9.15pm onwards in Greater Manchester. According to the precipitation maps, snow is also expected in areas of North Wales tomorrow night and in North Lancashire.

Some of the heaviest snowfall is expected in the Peak District, with up to 4mm falling on Thursday evening in northern areas. Elsewhere in the UK, the Yorkshire Dales could see some snowfall overnight, with some parts of the Lake District affected too.
