Met Office forecasts frost and strong winds as Greater Manchester set for 'chilly' weekend

The Met Office has warned that conditions are going to get much colder in Greater Manchester in the coming days.

According to current forecasts, this evening (November 9) will see temperaturess drop to 6C while being accompanied by heavy showers for the most part. While there will be a small break in the rain at 11pm, it will quickly start again by midnight, with showers set to sporadically continue into Friday morning.

It comes after the region saw declining temperatures as the week continued, bringing exceptionally chilly evenings. This trend is expected to continue into the weekend, with early forecasts stating they will pick up throughout the start of next week.

The Met Office said tonight will see: "Long spells of heavy showers easing overnight, becoming more isolated with winds turning lighter. Clearer spells developing by dawn bringing a patchy frost in sheltered rural areas. Minimum temperature 5 °C."

By Friday morning, we'll thankfully see the start of a break from the dreary downpours that have been experienced throughout the week. Sunny conditions are expected to start from 8am and last until 4pm before nighttime rolls in.

During this period, temperatures will remain relatively cold, fluctuating between 6 and 9C so make sure you still wrap up warm. The Met Office added: "Dry throughout the day with most of the sunnier spells developing into the afternoon. Feeling rather cold in a fresh northwesterly wind especially on higher ground. Maximum temperature 10 °C."
