We all love a conspiracy theory, don’t we?

Sometimes it’s fun to disbelieve everything you’re told and go against the grain.

After all, we each have our minds and well within our rights to believe what we want.

There are plenty of conspiracy theories in everyday life from whether man actually stepped foot on the moon or whether the earth is flat.

But there are also conspiracy theories in the world of football.

From Fergie time to LiVARpool, rivals fans love to believe there is a conspiracy against their favoured club and in favour of their rivals.

Now, a new Twitter account called @footbaIItheory has started sharing conspiracy theories that “everyone thinks but never says”.

So far, the account has only shared a handful of theories but they’ve already gained traction on social media.

We realise that they’re all incorrect but some of them do make you think. Simply put, it’s all a bit of fun and we don’t actually believe these theories.

The conspiracy with the biggest engagement is “Thomas Muller has been 32 since 2010.”

The Bayern Munich legend is, indeed, 32, but will eventually turn 33 in September.

We’re not quite sure why it feels like the forward has always been 32. After all, he did win the World Cup Golden Boot at the age of 20.

Another theory that has picked up plenty of interest is that “Copa America was organised 4 times in 6 Years so Messi had a better chance to win an international trophy.”

It’s correct that, between 2015 and 2021 there were four Copa Americas.
