Men's college basketball coaching changes for 2026-27 - ESPN
The men's college basketball coaching carousel seemed to be over a couple weeks after the national title game. And then in mid-June, reigning champion Michigan got a big shake-up: Dusty May was leaving for the NBA, and the Dallas Mavericks. The job opened — and seems to have closed, at least for this season — within hours, bringing the total count of changes to 52, including three interim positions.

Former coach: Dusty May (June 22)
New coach: Mike Boynton, interim (June 22)
Eleven weeks after leading Michigan to a national title in just his second season in Ann Arbor, May is leaving college basketball to coach Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks. A former student manager for Bob Knight at Indiana, May had been hired by the Wolverines in 2024 to replace Juwan Howard after leading Florida Atlantic to back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances.
Boynton joined May's coaching staff in 2024 after seven seasons leading Oklahoma State, where he went 119-109 overall, including one NCAA round of 32 appearance. He will be given the interim tag for the 2026-27 season.

Former coach: George Ivory (March 31)
New coach: Mike Davis (April 29)
Ivory was informed he would not return as head coach next season. Since being hired in March 2022, he compiled an overall record of 12-118. Ivory is an alum of MVSU and also served as an assistant before leaving to lead Arkansas-Pine Bluff for 13 seasons.
Davis, who succeeded Bob Knight at Indiana, has also been a head coach at UAB, Texas Southern and Detroit Mercy, with a 412-360 overall record as a head coach. He spent the last two
