MEMS Power Generation will be sponsoring Notts County this season after a 12-year partnership with Gillingham

Gillingham’s former main sponsors are now backing their League 2 rivals Notts County.

MEMS Power Generation have their headquarters close to Gillingham’s Priestfield stadium but have been replaced as main sponsors of the club this summer.

MEMS chief Colin Jarvis is a life-long Gills fan but their company provide power generation nationwide and will be home and away kit sponsors of Notts County this season.

Mr Jarvis said: "This partnership represents MEMS' strong commitment to supporting local communities and fostering the growth of sports in the region.

"The club, which is situated close to our Derbyshire depot, holds a special place in the hearts of football enthusiasts, predating the Football Association itself, and we take immense pride in associating with a historically significant and renowned institution.

"We're thrilled to offer our support and honoured to be part of the club's journey towards continued success."

Gillingham ended a 12-year partnership with MEMS this summer after switching to Medway-based construction company Bauvill as their principal sponsors.

Mr Jarvis, in a statement issued by MEMS, said at the time it was “with great sadness and disappointment that our long-standing main sponsorship agreement with GFC will come to a close.”

MEMS – a company which was founded by Mr Jarvis in 1978 as Medway Electrical and Mechanical Services Ltd -have a branch in Alfreton and Notts County’s head of commercial Jordan Worthington said: “MEMS have been tremendous supporters of football clubs over the years and we hope this will be the start of a long and fruitful relationship between us."

Both Gillingham and Notts County are among the favourites for promotion from League 2 this season.
