Melanie Skyes quit TV career after MasterChef's Gregg Wallace comment

Melanie Skyes used to be a regular on TV screens, appearing as a co-host on a variety of shows such as Today with Des and Mel and Let's Do Lunch, with Gino D'Acampo.

However, since her appearance on Celebrity MasterChef in 2021, we have seen her less on the small screen. The celeb presenter has now revealed how one comment made her quit TV for good.

The bubbly 52-year-old said she no longer has any interest in pursuing a career on mainstream TV after taking par in Celebrity MasterChef. She even went so far to vow to never return to TV after her experience on the competition show, the Mirror reports.

At times, she revealed she felt as though she was 'thrown under a bus'. Her presenting career began with Sky One's Real TV UK series in the mid-90's, leading to appearances on shows such as The Big Breakfast and the Paul O'Grady show. She also competed on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! and The Great Stand Up To Cancer Bake Off.

In Melanie's autobiography, she recalls a moment with MasterChef judge Gregg Wallace which changed everything. She recalls being told by Gregg that her appearance on the BBC reality show would be a boost to her career and 'would do a lot for you'.

While Gregg's words were meant to be small pearls of wisdom to help her, it led Melanie on a completely different path. She wrote that appearing on the show made her 'decide to end her television career once and for all'.
