Mehrdad Ghodoussi's brilliant Newcastle gesture for tennis star Cameron Norrie after Wimbledon win

Newcastle United's Mehrdad Ghodoussi has invited Wimbledon semi-finalist Cameron Norrie to take in a game at St. James' Park next season. The Magpies fan is the only British seed left in the singles competition after dispatching David Goffin 3-6 7-5 2-6 6-3 7-5 in the quarter-final on Court One at Wimbledon.

It's not clear how Norrie's affinity with the Toon first came about, but the club has wished him well throughout the tournament on social media. Co-owner Ghodoussi is well known for being proactive on social media and has built up a solid rapport with the fanbase despite being at the club for less than a year.

Norrie is set to face defending champion Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals on Centre Court at Wimbledon on Friday. The pair have previously met on the ATP Tour with the former world number one winning in straight sets.

It's exciting times to be a Newcastle supporter and Norrie will no doubt be keeping a close eye on proceedings during his downtime at Wimbledon. The 26-year-old's win over Goffin means he'll play in the semi-final of a Grand Slam for the first time during his career.
