Medals galore for young Law and District AAC athletes

Law and District Amateur Athletics Club’s younger members have taken part in various competitions in recent weeks.

Brother and sister Allyssa and James Bennet took part in the Bluebell 1k trail junior race, with Allyssa finishing first and James second at Dalkeith Country Park in Midlothian.

In Glasgow, under-11 runner Layla Kirk finished second girl and eighth overall at the Babcock Shettleston 2k race.

The club’s under-13 boys were in good form in the Boys’ Brigade National Cross Country event in Dunblane, with Cameron Chambers winning the championship title and Alex Wotherspoon following in a close second place on what was a very hot and sunny day.

Meanwhile, senior athlete Lesley Graham completed her second marathon of the year at Windermere in Cumbria, England, where she finished sixth in her age group and was 12th female overall in 3.44 on a particularly hilly course.

Fellow senior Reagan Binnie ran the Gryffe Valley 10k race in Houston, Ayrshire, her first at that distance, finishing second female and 18th overall in 41.36 minutes.

Law and District AAC’s next major competition is the Scottish Schools’ Track and Field Championships at Grangemouth this week, with the action taking place on June 7 and 8.
