Rory McIlroy sits eight shots off the pace at the RBC Canadian Open, while Shane Lowry will see weekend action after sneaking inside the cut.

McIlroy couldn't match his opening round 66 exploits, carding three bogeys and a single birdie on his way to a 72.

He sits on two-under par, eight shots adrift of joint-leaders Bob McIntyre and Ryan Fox.

Lowry picked up three birdies on after the turn – the Offaly native started at the 10th – to shoot a 68 and finish among a cluster of players on level par and just inside the cut.

Seamus Power’s weekend however is over after a 71 saw him finish on three-over par.
