McFly star Tom Fletcher shares health battle after Easter dash to A&E

McFly musician Tom Fletcher revealed he ended up at hospital over the Easter break after being stricken with a painful eye condition. The hitmaker took to social media to update followers about his health.

Taking to his Instagram Stories on Easter Sunday, the Strictly Come Dancing 2021 contestant shared snaps while waiting to be seen and showing his noticeably inflamed eye, reports the Mirror. The dad-of-three then told his fans: "Home. Another 6 weeks of steroid eye drops here we go."

The All About You singer and songwriter then shared a photo of himself with a swollen eye as he wrote: "I've literally been asleep all day just woken up. Third time I've had uveitis and each time it's wiped me out like this."

According to the NHS, uveitis as inflammation of the middle layer of the eye, called the uvea or uveal tract. It can cause eye pain, redness and vision changes, including blurry or cloudy sight.

Tom previously had treatment for the eye condition at the end of last year. In December he shared details of another dash to hospital with his fans on Instagram.

"Sorry I’ve been quiet for a bit," he wrote. "I was wiped out with some sort of illness and in bed for a few days. I just got back on my feet yesterday and uveitis decided to kick me down again."

Tom, 37, went on to thank the A&E staff saying: "Very grateful to have a dedicated eye A&E hospital in London! It’s the 2nd time I’ve stumbled into that place holding my eyes and they’ve been amazing."
