McDonald’s free football coaching to be offered to 30,000 children across England this autumn

Free football coaching will be offered to 30,000 children across England from September. The MacDonald’s Free Fun Sessions were relaunched in May and have seen a 60 percent increase in girls signing up since the Lionesses victory this summer.

Thanks to the success of the original programme, the fast-food chain has added additional locations to its autumn rollout. Ensuring that more children than ever before have the opportunity to play, over 17,000 hours of Free Fun Football will be made available across 200 centres.

The expansion of the scheme includes 17 new locations across the country, which reduces the distance that children and parents have to travel to attend the free sessions. MacDonald’s has supported grassroots football for over 20 years.

McDonald’s Fun Football ambassador Beth Mead said: “I’ve taken part in a few Fun Football sessions now and they never fail to bring a smile to my face. The sessions are a great way for children to have a run around and have fun with their mates.

“The coaches are fantastic and always make the children feel like they belong. By putting more sessions on this Autumn, everyone will have the chance to play football for free. It is so important that programmes like this continue to grow and offer as many children as possible the chance to play so we can build on the momentum from the summer!”

McDonald’s Fun Football Ambassador Jordan Henderson added: “It is easy to see the value that comes from the Fun Football sessions. They are easily accessible, and the Fun Football FA accredited coaches make all the children feel included and tailor sessions
