McDonald's forced to remove 'iconic' item from menu due to demand

The return of an iconic McDonald's breakfast item has gone a bit too well.

The fast food chain brought back the fan-favourite Breakfast Wrap on February 7. However, the hype seemed to be more than the chain could handle after announcing it has had to temporarily remove the Breakfast Wrap from store menus due to the risk of running low on eggs.

The decision was announced on Friday in order to avoid risk of not being able to serve other breakfast items that contain eggs, such as the McMuffin. McDonald's highlighted that the item is only being removed for a small amount of time and will return shortly.

Announcing the temporary removal, the chain told customers: "We've got egg on our face. Turns out the return of our iconic Breakfast Wrap has been so popular it's created a shortage of a key ingredient, who knew you loved egg so much?

"We understand that it's no yolk to have your breakfast plans disrupted and realise this may have left you feeling a bit shell-shocked. We'll soldier on, working tirelessly to bring it back.

"Hopefully next week. We thank every single fan of the Breakfast Wrap for your egg-ceptional patience and understanding."

Some fans on social media have expressed their pain of having to wait longer to try the Breakfast Wrap again. One wrote: "I’ve waiting so long to have another breakfast wrap…i never thought I’d have the Devine pleasure again…I can wait for the eggs…please don’t take too long though…I’m not sure how long I have left captain!"
