McDonald's fans discover simple 'loophole' to avoid compulsory 20p charge

Fast food giant McDonald's made the headlines earlier this week when it announced it would be raising its prices for the first time in a well over a decade. For years, many people have relied on McDonald's 99p cheeseburger for a cheap and easy meal.

But last week, McDonald's announced that its 99p cheeseburger is dead, and will now cost £1.20. McDonald's Chief Executive Office Alistair Macrow has said that this has increased pressure on the chain's restaurants and suppliers.

Now McDonald's fans have found some clever loopholes to avoid the price increases. They're well worth trying.

Posting in the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group, Joey Tamburello wrote: "The McDonald’s Cheeseburger has had a price increase today for 99p to £1.20! Little too to beat it and get more for your money, buy a Happy Meal instead for £2.99! All the items would be £3.17 if brought individually, so not only do you save money, you also get a toy."

Writing under the post, Karen Skidmore gave another hack to beat the price rises. She said: "Save your receipt, do a quick online customer survey and they send a QR code to get a big mac and fries for £1.99. If you don't have a receipt on you buy a drink ( or something else small) then use that receipt to get the big mac and fries deal to make a meal."

Natalie Osborne suggested: "Double cheeseburger with big mac sauce.. Half the price and u only lose the extra slice of bread." Stacey Phillpott added: "If you order from the main till up front or the drive though you can get a coffee with the happy meal for the same price."
