McCabe, Quinn and Brosnan in the running for FAI award

Arsenal's Katie McCabe, Birmingham City defender Louise Quinn and Everton goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan have all been nominated for the FAI's senior women international player of the year award.

All three are a part of Vera Pauw's Republic of Ireland squad and will be hoping to make a major impact during their World Cup campaign which gets underway in Australia next month.

McCabe was a crucial part of Arsenal's European run this season, helping her side to the Champions League semi-final and she was named as a member of the the Women's Champions League Team of the Season - the only non-Barcelona or Wolfsburg player included.

Quinn shone in the heart of defence for Birmingham as they won promotion back to the WSL, while Brosnan impressed between the sticks for West Ham, helping them to secure their top flight status.

Nathan Collins, Josh Cullen and Jayson Molumby have been nominated for the men's award while Evan Ferguson is in the running to win the young men's prize, following a break-out season with Brighton and Hove Albion.

Ferguson is nominated alongside Dara O'Shea and Michael Obafemi for the youth award.

Abbie Larkin, Heather Payne and Jess Ziu are the nominees for the young women's award.

The performances taken into account are from June 2022 to June 2023, while the SSE Airtricity League Player of the Year takes in the entirety of the 2022 season.

A jury from Soccer Writers' Ireland helped with the selection of certain categories to help honour those who excelled over the previous year.
