Mayo see off Galway to claim Connacht minor title
Mayo 0-13 Galway 0-07
The minors of Mayo have been crowned Connacht champions after defeating Galway at MacHale Park.
Niall Hurley and Ronan Clarke were crucial to Mayo's efforts in the first half of the provincial decider, scoring three points each as they grasped a 0-07 to 0-03 half-time lead.
They then saw out the game, helped by points early in the second half by Jack Keane and David Nolan which kept Galway at arm's length, before Hurley scored their 13th and final point to seal a six-point winning margin.
Victory sealed Mayo's first Conancht title since they overcame Galway in the 2019 final, with Roscommon and Sligo having won in the intervening years. It's a 41st title for the county at the now U-17 age grade.
They now advance to face Kildare in an All-Ireland quarter-final on Sunday in Tullamore, the day after Mayo's seniors take on the Lilywhites in the second round of the qualifiers.
