‘Maybe will happen’ - Steven Bergwijn makes Manchester United transfer admission

Tottenham attacker Steven Bergwijn has hinted that a potential move to Manchester United could be on the cards.

The Dutchman had made just four Premier League starts for Tottenham this season and just once since Antonio Conte's appointment. Despite this, Bergwijn has scored three times across 18 substitute appearances and the 24-year-old appears far from happy at Spurs.

He added: "I haven't spoken to him yet. But who knows, maybe that will happen."

The Netherlands international admitted he expected "more playing time" after his remarkable stoppage-time brace in January's 3-2 victory over Leicester.

With an intention of getting into his country’s World Cup squad for Qatar this winter on his mind, former PSV player Bergwijn said: "It's important to me that I'm going to play now. Ajax would certainly be an option (as a transfer destination).
